This was my dads car, he sold it in 1999 and I got it back after his death, november 2009.  I always knew where the car was and am happy to have it back in the family.  I learned to drive in this car, took dates out in it and loved driving it always.  He bought it in 1987.

  • New Guy, old project (Blog entry)

    Howdy,

I've been meaning to sign up, finally did.  I've got a 69 GTO that I've been working on "forever", but finally can see actually getting it done.

Here's a link to my web site where I track my progress.  I add pictures whenever there's something new to report.

The next major milestone will be taking the motor up to break in on the dyno, and find out how it runs.

The headlights are 34 ford.  I custom made all of the frame and brackets.  the hood ornament is a Mack Bull Dog from a Mack truck.  I custom machined the dumb cap on my lathe to fill the unused hole in the radiator shell and to hold my little mascot.

  • Interior (Image)

The interior has custom seats made from old movie theater seats.  It is all marine vinyl.  I did everything but the botoms of the seat cushions and the shifter boot.  The steering wheel is removable.

Here is the engine.  It is a 216 Chevy six from a '52 pickup.  It has aluminum pistons, shaved head, insert rod bearings, vintage twin carb edmunds custom intake, carter YF carbs, owner split stock exhaust manifold.  The thing makes about 140 HP.  Overflow is a 1936 copy right RC cola botle.
